Dear Voter,
There is an important choice that you, the voter, will have to make regarding the focus and direction of District 7 and our great city. You must decide what type of leadership you desire and want to represent and speak for you over the next four years.
I am Gershom Faulkner. I am asking you to partner with me on this journey over the next several months to becoming your next St. Petersburg City Councilman representing District 7.
My prayers go out to the families of our fallen police officers and all those affected by the horrific tragedies that took place within our city early this year. I stand and affirm that I will support the fine officers of this city. I will work to assure they have the best equipment and latest in technology, coupled with the greatest training to better handle the issues they face daily in protecting us and our community. While the decision to wear bullet proof vests is currently optional, I agree with the Chief of Police in revisiting this policy. Any measure, no matter how small it appears, to save a life is a welcome one.
As a combined focus, education of our youth and our workforce is critical to the growth and development of economic opportunity; it is also a vital part of lowering crime in our communities. The lack of education, jobs and economic opportunities foster an environment for crime. I support our business development center, as well as the chamber of commerce and have participated in programs that they offer, including Leadership St. Pete and the Entrepreneurial Academy. I am also a small business owner and while there are programs in place to encourage small business, I do believe there is an element missing. Too many small businesses are closing their doors for good, due to lack of financial capital. Hand holding is not what they want; however, a fair playing field is essential to their success.

Lastly, we must not forget our commitment to green jobs and preservation of our environment as well as the continued implementation of clean fuels. Our park systems and our eco systems all deserve to be protected, and I will stand with you to see that they remain unharmed.

Do you want a councilmember with patience,
taking into account all sides before rendering a vote?
Do you want a councilmember dedicated to moving
the people and the city forward together?
